In this study, we explore a pivotal moment in the history of Israel’s deliverance from slavery in Egypt, as detailed in Exodus 4:29-5:19. Before Moses approached Pharaoh, he and Aaron met with the oppressed leaders of Israel, urging them to consecrate themselves to the Lord and prepare for their coming deliverance. In response to Pharaoh’s harsh actions, which included increasing the Israelites’ labor, the people began to observe the Sabbath rest once again, a practice Pharaoh angrily opposed. This study highlights the significance of the Sabbath as both a physical rest and a spiritual reminder of God’s power to deliver His people. Drawing parallels to the present day, it invites readers to reflect on how God continues to call His people to trust in His promises and embrace the gift of rest amid the struggles of life, as we await the ultimate deliverance from sin and the journey to heavenly Canaan.
