In the beginning, the world existed in perfect harmony, with man, animals, and plants living together peacefully. However, sin disrupted this balance, leading to violence, suffering, and a weakened earth. God commanded rest for the land every seventh year, but His people often ignored this law. As a result, judgment came through the Babylonian king Nebuchadnezzar, and Israel was left desolate until the land had rested for 70 years.
This story mirrors God’s plan for the world, where for 6,000 years, Jesus has been sowing the seed of the gospel. Soon, Christ will return to harvest the world. Those who are faithful will be taken to His kingdom, while the earth will undergo a 1,000-year Sabbath, with Satan bound in chains. After this time, a new world will be created, free from sin and suffering.
